Default Acceleration Expansion Pack - why does it say Games for Windows on the DVD ??

    Hello fellow flightsimmers,

Just a quick question to all you brainy buzzards out there. I was under the impression that the Acceleration pack was an add-on for FSX, yet, it quite clearly states, along with the little Windows icon next to it, Games for Windows. Does this mean that it has to be registered online with a serial code of some kind, similar to the core game ??
And, as I have absolutely no intention of playing on the multiplayer at all, can I get away without registering it online, will that affect it's game performance at all, please anybody ??

Games for Windows is just about marketing and whether the game meets certain requirements. It doesn't mean it's an online only game, though they certainly can include multiplayer features.

FSX Acceleration does need to be activated online like FSX itself to play, even if you don't want to play online.

    Hi,

Yes it does have a second registration code just like the base FSX installation. It needs to be registered online or over the phone and will not install if you don't register it.
    Thanks,

    Jim

Thanks very much for the information, Jim and Loki, I thought you'd have to register it, otherwise they wouldn't bother give you a key number, now I come to think about it.

Hmmm, not sure whether to bother getting it then, I'll have to think about it.......

Well Steve, if you have FSX, didn't you register it? There ARE keys with FSX.

If you're worried about registering, why have you joined this forum?

Why would you be worried to register Acceleration?
    Thanks,

Well, I think it's called "Activating", not registering (as if it made a difference), just like your Windows OS and your FSX base installation. Is there a problem with doing the same for Acceleration?

Well, for one thing Jim, the price.......If it doesn't need registering, then I can get a 2nd hand copy for 5 pounds, however, if it needs to be registered, then I'd have to get a brand new one for 20 pounds, so, there is a reason for me asking, budgeting is a fine art in flightsimming.....

    Thanks for your help.

Ah, OK a bootleg copy of Acceleration vs a legit copy. Yes, the reason is very clear now and piracy is a black art in flight simming. Sorry, but this will end this discussion.
    Thanks,

    Jim
