Default Sun doing tricks??

Today I went on my first flight in a 737-400 from Winnipeg to Toronto. I left Winnipeg at Dusk and it was completely dark by the time I reached the Ontario border, then for some reason when I was close to International Falls the sun jumped back up and it was bright again. This used to happen to me on fs2000 in the same location, has anyone else experienced this and knows if there is a fix for it. Thanks.

whoo! And I thought I was the only person who did this flight... (I live in Winnipeg, and I've flown that too many times to count in the real world, so it's always fun to duplicate it in FS). I've never actually experienced that problem myself though, and I've flown at all times of day and night... However, I did have it once on a CYYZ to KJFK flight - so I would like to see if anyone else has an answer to this, so here's a shameless *bump* to move this up....

LAST EDITED ON Jul-09-02 AT 02:04AM (EDT)[p]When you cross a time zone, the sun can suddenly disappear or appear out of nowhere... Happens often to me during flights and on approaching Kansai Intl from the west (apparently with the longitudinal lines of multiples of 15)

EDIT: I'll add something. This happens because when you cross a time zone, instead of shifting the local time accordingly, the simulator shifts the GMT. Pretty stupid...

Hey Jason. I'm also a Winnipegger, and the CYWG to CYYZ is one of my favorite routes to fly. The other strange thing was that as soon as the sun suddenly came back up the ATC suddenly became very busy with like 7 consective messages with no break in between. Its like ATC lost an hour and had to catch up.

LAST EDITED ON Jul-09-02 AT 09:44AM (EDT)[p]I get that all the time while flying interisland in Hawaii. Try flying from Maui to Oahu at dawn. As you appreach Oahu, the sun will jump up and it will be bright daylight again. However, the time doesnt change, just the position of the sun. It also works the other way. Fly from Oahu to Maui at dawn, just before you reach Molokai the sun will sink deeper and it'll be very early, dark morning. But the time doesnt change.

Yep, and the time should have changed - the local time, not the GST, Microsoft! *grin*

Should local time really change? I think Oahu and Maui are within the same time zone.

All the simulator cares is that you cross a time zone every 15 degrees of longitude you travel... Where I usually fly (China / Korea) the time zones are all wrong anyway.
