Thread: Panel Problem 3D

  1. Unhappy Panel Problem 3D

Hi guys, new on the forum and on flightsim.com

I really must say I like this website a lot, I've been here for a day and I already downloaded 4 different aircraft (The 777, 757, 737, 787, Embraer 190).

So I have all my planes in flight sim, I replaced the main panel in all of them with the default 737 panel and all of them show up with the 737 panel. Here is the problem whenever I'm in the cockpit, and I switch views with A to the "virtual" cockpit, i.e. the 3D view of the cockpit, the panel just disappears, in some models like the 777 and the embraer there is a 3d panel but it's all blacked out and I can't touch any controls. I have to switch back to the cockpit view i.e. the 2D view in order to fly my plane. How do I put a panel that would give me 3D view on all of my planes?

I do have some knowledge of replacing files, since I managed to download a bunch of planes and switch the panels to a default 737.

If anybody could help me with my problem I would be greatly appreciative.

    Thanks In advance!

I am not familiar with these downloads but I use F9 to switch to VC view and F10 to go to 2D. Some aircraft are not made with a VC view.

    Hi, welcome to the forum.

Obviously you like the default B737 panel . So do I, so nothing wrong with that.

Replacing 2D panels is easy, and will always work visually whatever base model and whatever what 2D panel. Won't get into the details of it being functional...

Switching VC panels between models simply doesn't work (again without going into details, not making this post more complicated than it should be).
Briefly explained: all panel gauges are programmed to fit on an exact spot on a background which isn't there if you don't use the correct model.

Most aircraft you download have a working panel included. Try those. Most of your flying time you'll be staring at that panel, so why not use the correct one ?
If you don't like 'em because of not functional enough or too complicated, dump them.

I'm aware this is not a very usefull post, but I'm sure someone over here can help you installing yr downloaded aircraft with the correct panels.

If you want the 737 2D and a working VC from the original plane, copy all of it's original panel.cfg's [VCockpitXX] sections and replace those in the 737 panel.cfg.
Some VCs also use bitmaps from the panel folder, so make sure all of the original .bmps are also in the new folder.
The original's gauge's .cab/folder may or may not be in the original panel folder, but will be necessary for the VC to work proper.
They can be placed in the panel folder for singular use or in FSX/Gauges for use in any plane. If they are xxx.gau or xxx.dll they need to be in FSX/Gauges...Don
