    Default FS9 configurator AI taxi speed problem windows 7 64bit

    Hi.

    A few months ago someone in here sent me fs9 config so I could increase AI taxispeed, it worked quickly on my other pc windows xp and now I'm doing it on different pc using windows 7 64 bit and an error pops up, anyone know how to fix it?

    For an unknown reason I can't manage to upload a screenshot for the problem but here's what I get after I click "set ai taxispeed" :

    Unable to open C:\Program Files (x86)\Microsoft games\flight simulator 9\modules\ai_playr.dll

    error = 5

    Please help for solution, thank you.

    Hi,

    Install FS out of the Program Files path. Win 7 heavily protects all files that are in the Program Files folder.
    Thanks,

    Also to try to get around the protection that Jim mentioned you can try setting up a shortcut to start fs9 configurator's .exe file and on the shortcut advanced properties set it to run with admin privileges. You must must have admin rights in your log-in in order to set this up I believe. You also can directly start the .exe by right clicking on it and selecting to run it as admin.

    Note that logging in as admin and setting up a program to run with admin privileges are two separate items under security for VISTA and Win 7.

    If you had FS installed outside of the Program Files folder none of this would be necessary.
    Thanks,

    Jim

    True, but unfortunately many users are not aware of this until they come here after installation.

    I'll steal a bit of this topic since it involves security issues. FS and any add-on applications that using Windows inter-process messaging among them, Internet access, and folder/file access among them should be listed in various add-on security applications (Kapersky and Norton/Symantec come to mind) as trusted applications. The highly frequent file access especially between add-ons and FS can result in the heuristic algorithms used by the malware prevention applications can interpret this as a virus action preventing access after a short period.

    The method of listing user declared trusted applications varies with the security suite.
