ATC not talking to me.

Ok, I filed a IFR flight earlier today, flew the whole 1 hour flight (well it really took me 2 hours to fly it, cause it was my first real true IFR flight, but that is another story...lol) well during the whole flight I heard the ATC talking to me when the window poped up, telling me to adjust my heading etc...well, I went to try and fly a similar flight, and the ATC is silent, the window still pops up, but no sound. I was having this problem when I was flying around VFR on short hops, I wasn't too worried then, but now that I want to try my hand at IFR, I kind of need/want the voice talking to me.

FSX is such a fun...but buggy game......

Have you remembered to turn your avionics on? It can be quite easy to forget to do this,which results in the sounds of silence.

i know the feeling.
when i request a landing ATC only gives me a heading and nothing more (most of the time)
which means i dont contact them at all when i land, but i doesnt matter because i fly at Princess Juliana and theres like 2 flights a day

Sometimes the ATC loses it's mind and won't get past the last instruction it gave. Even after the flight is ended.
I've pushed the wrong number to reply and had to shutdown and restart the sim just to get the IFR taxi request again.

Yep! Buggy as all get out! Too bad it's so much fun...Don

Hey Bikertrashdude , why don't you try flying online. It's free and you get real ATC.

check suggestion 3 and 4 first, after a short test flight i think thats it.
<1> can you still use ATC normally, just dont hear sound. Or are there no replies possible and ATC doesnt talk to you either? if there are no replies possible it sometimes helps to change over to the standby frequency of Com 1. Then you suddenly have the options again to tune tower, etc. <2> in some airplanes there is a button on the radio panel that swiches the speaker off. then you dont hear ATC, or the ADF sound when you are approaching the airport. <3> check in Settings--Sound that the volume for voice is not turned down all the way. in that case you wont hear anything. <3> check in Settings--General in the ATC section that "use a pilot voice" is selected.
that should fix it normally,
