  1. Default How are these specs for 3 monitors? (on FSX)

    HI all,

I month or so ago I went out and built a new PC. The performance was great using one monitor but using 2 or three makes the frame-rate unbearable. I have done some of the suggestions such as using the FSP Limiter but it doesnt seem to make a difference.

Any ideas? Are my specs too low for really good performance (eg. high frame-rate)?

    Intel Core i7 950@ 3.07GHZ 3.07GHZ
    12 GB RAM
    64bit Win 7 pro
2 AMD Radeon HD 6850 graphics cards (two cards)
(I tried to install two monitors on the one graphics card but the performance was slow so I bought another graphics card which now I regret as it doesnt seem to make a difference. I tried the eyefinityx but as my monitors are different sizes it looks weird so I just create two new views in FSX and put each new view in the side monitors)

Any have any comments? Thanks a lot!

note that in a busy airport I am getting about fps of under 3 or so which makes it useless.

    Hi,

What are you doing to run both cards? Are you following the AMD/ATI system recommendations?:

Even 2 monitors on a single card should be very fast.
    Thanks,

    Jim

    HI Jim,

Thanks for the reply and the link. I checked the power supply and it is 700W so that should be ok. I have both cards in the available X16 slots. I have them connected with the cable that is provided (but I dont think that matters as I am not using the crossfirex capabilities). You mention that it should run very fast which makes me happy as all I have to do is play around on the software side and get it working so. I will reinstall everything and see what happens. Thanks!

    Hi daynascorman

I have just about the exact same setup, I crossfired the radeon cards and run 8 monitors (7 views and 1 22" for instruments). It runs great if you shut down the auto gen features and remove the trees. Run density full to get all the airport signs and features just no trees. Slight pulsing as is, turn on trees and it almost stops. We should be able to run NASA! If you figure it out let me know how to fix it!
