Hi all, well as you can see by the specs of my trusty notebook, its not at the high end as far as being able to run Flight simulator proficiently. I must say tho, that FS2002 runs smoother on my machine, as the previous FS2000. So, the question has to be asked, for the benefit of others, and myself, who are using older PC's, What more, apart from buying a new PC, and adjusting settings from within FS itself, can be done to keep those frame rates up for online flying??
This is what I have done so far:
Full FS2002 Install
Removed Wallpaper
Have installed the latest drivers for my ATI card
Ctrl/Alt/Del everything except Systray and Explorer
Using Enditall2, killed every process that I dare (Including antivirus), with the exeption of the following:
mmtask.tsk
mprexe.exe
msgsrv32.exe
mstask.exe
pstores.exe
tapisrv.exe
Not sure if its advisable to terminate any of these (any advice accepted :-)
Zone Alarm is the only thing I have running in the background.
Optimised/defragmented hard drive, so swap file is first up
Can anything be done with the virtual memory setting? (I let windows handle it normally)
Is there any benefit of the "Cacheing scenery", if so what would be the best figure?
Carnt think of anything else.
Cheers Chris
