Thread: Katana in the Alps

  1. Cool Katana in the Alps

I got the Diamond DA20-100 Katana 4X made by Marcel Felde yesterday and took it for a short flight into the Alps today. It's a amazing piece of software this little GA plane. Loads of detail, realism and the added fun of maintaining the plane. Here are some screenshots of the flight and the plane.

    1. Shortly after taking off from Lausanne Blecherette (LSGL).

    2. Flying along the shore line of Lake Geneva and passing Montreux.

    3. We'll be following the shore line and into the valley on our way to Sion (LSGS).

    4. Some stunning views await us thanks to the Switzerland Pro X scenery.

    5. Again, pretty awesome view.

    6. Looking back towards Lake Geneva.

    7. Amazing airplane + Fantastic photoscenery = Picture like?

    8. Some smaller valleys end in the large one we are following.

    9. Although the virtual cockpit is of great quality, I can't help looking outside...

    10. ... but then again, who would want to miss these views?

    11. Rounding a corner to point our nose towards Sion.

    12. Descending and entering downwind at Sion Airport.

    13. No touchdown shots as I was quite busy fighting the wind in this light plane. Leaning back in the cockpit after shutdown to take in the view some more before getting out.

    14. A quick close-up of the instruments in the virtual cockpit.

    15. Chocks in place, plane tied down...

    16. Let me just get my stuff...

    17. ... and some reading material from the plane and let's grab a drink.

    18. We'll let the local mechanic take a quick look at the engine in the meanwhile.

Anyone looking for a general aviation plane, I can recommend this Diamond DA20-100 Katana 4X. I hope you guys enjoyed the shots, and have a happy Easter!

Happy Easter and AWESOME AWESOME shots! Looks good from most being from the virtual cockpit, very realistic.

Is that from Aerosoft? Seems different. Beautiful all around! Great job!

Thanks for the compliments! The Katana has been developed by Marcus Felde and I believe it has been mostly a one man job. Aerosoft only takes care of publishing it as far as I'm aware. It really is the product of a passion for realism, you can even smash the glass of the VSI in case the pitot tube is blocked. I think it's even save to say that this plane compares to most other GA addons like PMDG products compare to most other heavy iron addons. Might sound a bit like a promotional speech, but I'm just suprised by the overall quality.

Great shots Propane. What scenery add-ons are you using?

I use Switzerland Pro X for the photoscenery, Sion X for the airport scenery and the weather is courtesy of REX 2.0 + Overdrive.

    Hi!

Just wanted to say many thanks for the post/pics. I took a few real world flying lessons in a Diamond Katana. I was to scared to continue with real world flying but that plane looks exactly the same both inside and outside. The scenery is sweet too as Switzerland is a very nice green place to fly.

    Many thanks,

    Pierre
