Thread: Scenery tiles query

  1. Default Scenery tiles query

Can anyone explain if the difference in colouring of scenery tiles surrounding my aircraft position is normal? (See screenshot). I have been flying FSX for some years and only recently seem to have noticed it. This example is on photo scenery but it applies to default textures also. Tiles appear lighter in the distance and as you approach eventually reload with a darker shade. Looking around the aircraft, it is centered on this darker shade of tile. I have looked at the fsx.cfg file but no parameter seems to offer a possible solution.

I have an ATI Radeon HD4800 running the latest drivers.

    Hi,

There is no screenshot, but it could be distant haze coming into play here.
    Thanks,

    Jim

Hi Jim - thanks for the response. No its not haze. I need to attache the image somehow.

Thought I had attached it. I clicked the paperclip and selected my image but it hasn't shown. If I click 'Insert Image' tag it asks for a URL. Does this mean I have to upload the file some how?

    Thanks - Barry

  4. Default Image file for scenery tile display problem

My file size must have exceeded limits. Here is the picture of my problem.

    Hi,

So now will the dark continue to fill in as you fly in this area?

What are your total system specs?
    Thanks,

    Jim

You most likely have a custom detail1.bmp land detail texture that is not matched to 50% grey. Looks like yours has a green tinge.

This will be blended into tiles as they are closer to your aircraft, producing blocky changes at distance.

You could try switching off land detail textures to see if this helps, or revert back to the default detail1.bmp

Thanks very much for that suggestion you were spot on. I have restored the default detail1.bmp and everything now works fine.

    Much appreciated,

    Barry
