    Default Grumman Duck...a hooked amphibian

New at Avsim RUS. FS9/X. A new model of a rare breed- A Carrier capable Amphibian. Some minor issues resolved in some revised model and FDE files that may be had at SOH. Amazing! An incredible model from Swingman.
3 models, J2F4 and J2F6, in 4 interwar period schemes; and Murphy's Duck from the film Murphy's War. The textures need to be re-saved in DXT format to cure the blurries, but are otherwise as sweet as the model and VC. (I will be posting a set of textures re-saved as DXT5 format in the morning, if you don't know how...) Flys nice,
    A must have!

    Hello,

From SOH admin .. it appears this Duck is a reverse engineered copy of the FSX payware Duck by ICARUS and was removed from the Avsimrus library !

    Regards.

We shall see. It looks like a rather a different model- see the ICARUS Duck thread. Note the differences in the modeling of the VC, the hull to fusalage join, and diaphragm fairings, totaly absent on the ICARUS rendition. Gear well and pax compartment details. Interesting. To my eye, its a BETTER model than the ICARUS Duck. Is this sour grapes? A squawk betwixt developers. Or a very damned nice FS9 model... Zut Alors! Je Ne Ces pas! I'm not seeing it.

    Here's a comparison I through together: http://www.sim-outhouse.com/sohforum...ne-in-the-Same

They are completely different, and it is just sad the actions that the payware party took. This new freeware example is a very fine representation of the Duck - none more accurate I have seen in FS before, and I am still exploring the various different variants.

2 different models of the same subject. The difference is Swingman got it right. His crime is having a better product at a price ICARUS cannot beat. Shame. Nice file. Sitting on my HD. With all the FSX revisions and new FDE and Shockwave lights and DXT5 textures and a basic blue RN Duck. Less tham 40MB. Just sitting there.
Reinstate Swingmans Duck. If piracy is deplorable, then so is bearing false witness.
    Just my opinion.

The Fuse/Hull transition alone is a dead give-away! Other than being based on the same RW plane I see absolutely no reason for the piracy accusation.
From the different prop hub, to the different tailhook, from the spray rail, to the canopy frame, every aspect is different.

Hopefully, Avsimrus, will reinstate the file with apologies to the author...Don

Here are a few more screenshots of my favorite variant in the pack - which depicts Chuck Greenhill's Pearl Harbor-survivor Grumman J2F-4 Duck.
