Thread: FSX Acceleration Carrier Capable Aircraft

  1. Default FSX Acceleration Carrier Capable Aircraft

    Evening All,
    Does anyone know what aircraft are out there that are capable of using the acceleration carriers?
    Like Dinos F-14 and T-45, or CS F/A 18?
    Or some good VTOL aircraft,

    I'm looking for either payware,
    Or really good modeling like Dino's.

    Cheers All

    Any plane, as long as you add correct [tailhook] and [launch_assistance] sections to it's aircraft.cfg.

    I found this a while back and used it on a few planes. So far, So good.
    A simple way to calculate the launch assistance coordinates:

    1. Take the nosegear longitudinal and vertical coordinates from
    [contact_points] :
    e.g. point.0=1, 9.85, 0.00, -6.10, 1574.803, 0.0, 0.782, 42 etc.

    2. Calculate the [launch_assistance] coordinates as follows:
    launch_bar_lug = launch_bar_pivot longitudinal +1.5, 0.0, nosegear vertical +0.5
    launch_bar_pivot= nosegear longitudinal, 0.0, launch_bar_lug vertical + 1

    With the example above that wiould be:
    launch_bar_pivot= 9.85, 0.0, -4.60
    launch_bar_lug = 11.35, 0.0, -5.60

    This will work in most cases.
