Where do Russian helicopter gunships fit into a Seattle-based storyline?

My impression:
I got a boxed ToH hoping there would be a quick reference manual, unfortunately there wasn't so for anything other than flying the helicopter using 'Q,A,Z,W,S,X,D,C' keys, I'm going to have to create my own checklidt from the hundreds of commands in the settings menu, some of which are for 'infantry control' (?) Has this just been ported from ARMA? The manual is a let down but the main reason i haven't used it much is the performance: look at my specs in the siganture. They comply with Bohemia's baseline specs but don't expect miracles if you've got a similar setup and are considering. I'm not sure how to get FPS info (like when you hit shift>z in FSX), but if anyone can tell me I can report my experience properly. So far, I've flown the first introducory mission over a very jerky Seattle. Since then, I've tested out the armed models in free flight. The MD500 has a machine gun, the Huey has a m-gun+rockets and the
EH101 ('Merlin' if you're infromed about the Royal Navy,) has a rear gunner. The terrain isn't really adaptable, so the guns aren't much use in Free Flight, all you can shoot are trees which can fall after about a thousand rounds. When you leave your chopper, you sport an M16A semi, you can then kill your crew and steal their ammo (that's only way I know how to do it...). As for the flying, it doesn't work with a joystick straight away, you have to make crude programming such as 'X-axis forward='W' key' (to replace a default command with a joystick movement). The helicopters themselves, I almost can't say how they fly because of my poor performance, I'm getting used to the controls and the more I learn, the more I like this game.
Thanks for reading.

I have this sim and it is pretty good, though as far as the missions are concerned they are pretty limited. I think they are relying on community addons. There are a few 'issues' with the physics, real heli pilots are stating their views on the forums, and I am sure that Bohemia are addressing them. Still waiting for the main physics patch that will come along in the hopefully not too distant future which has been confirmed by the devs as being in production.
This is an almost complete ArmA2 engine, you can do any thing in ToH that you can do in ArmA2. You can even import the ArmA 2 world by using the @mod system that everybody knows from the ArmA games. The graphics are pretty sweet, and if you put the graphics sliders at max it even makes my i7 2600K @4.2, GTX580 and 8GB RAM struggle. There are also 'flashback' missions that your virtual brother talks about during his active duty that you fly, which allows you to shoot to kill.
Its really not a hardcore sim as checklists are very limited, there are only a half dozen or so clickable points in the cockpit which is all you get in this sim. Also, to get your joystick to work I wouldn't exactly call it crude programming, you select the control you require and move the required axis, you can also select the deadzones/sensitivities etc as you would expect with any other game/sim.
If you want to see you FPS download fraps and use the unregistered version, it will show the FPS in the corner of the screen. It is also very good for taking screenshots, and recording video(limited to 30 seconds in the unregistered version).

Oh man, that is really good news. The default scenery is all good and all, but I much more prefer the ArmA II scenery. Looking forward to this update. I have played TakeOn on the ArmA II map, but its way too much faffling about to get it there.
