Thread: Where to start

  1. Default Where to start

    Evening All,
I'v had FSX Gold for quite a while,
Only now have I got a computer capable enough to run it, (Alienwares Area 51 )

I'm a huge fan of trapping,
Been doing that since the original FlightDeck came out,

But one thing I just can't stand is crappy aircraft models,
I'm more than happy with what Microsoft has given us to start with but I want some more trapping aircraft,
I'v done the freeware thing before, and I'm not so happy to say,
I wasn't pleased with many of the results,
That being said, I do however absolutely adore the aircraft my Dino Cattaneo
His freeware is the only I enjoy,

So I want some pay-ware aircraft,
Mainly for trapping and launching with the FSX Carriers,
Any thoughts on what I should look at?
I did stumble across the IRIS Sims F-14,
Which I think looks amazing, but doesn't differ to much from Dino's on appearance,
Does anyone know the difference? Or recommend one over the other?

I'm also Looking for a really good model (preferable pay-ware)
Of a Piper PA-28 Warrior II,
    I'm a student pilot,
Training in the warrior, I think it would help with getting familiar with the cockpit, and my checklists.

    Cheers All

I'd go with IRIS's just because of functionallity and so forth. I've had IRIS's a LONG time, enjoy it, and it's a far better looking one IMHO. (Accuracy is key too with me)

You'll like it if you get it.

Welcome to the forums by the way!

Would you mind if I made an inquiry? It sounds like you've been catching the three-wire for a while now...

I presume, unlike others in another sub forum on this site that will go un-named (the picture one...) that you
do execute your landing approach towards the STERN of the carrier, and not the BOW, right?

I just wanted to clarify that for any "want to aspire to be" carrier pilots out there that tend to post screen shots and say they landed on the carrier, only to show that they've landed on the BOW of the ship, which means they landed THE WRONG WAY!!

Oops... sorry for hijacking the thread. I had a momentary case of plak tow and lost my faculties.

    Thanks,

As for my landing on the carrier,
In the abacus products it does direct you towards the stern,
Though I was never actually fond of how the tutorials set them up.
    Personaly,
I do the approach, line up with the flighdeck on final,
And try to snatch 3rd wire, usually doing a dirty pass.
