I have been flying FS2004 on my gateway for 3 years and am very happy with it . I'm a private pilot so I do have some objective view when I compare FS to actual flight. I found a copy of standard FSX for about $20.00 at local Walmart so decided : " what the heck for this price I can try it out . Nothing to loose . " So I downloaded it (without removing FS2004 ) knowing full well I wouldnt be able to run FSX with highest settings or even close for that matter . So here is my Question ( or maybe just an observation ) Why is it FS2004 runs beautifully with almost all settings set at maxium or close to maximum and Yet FSX runs absolutely terrible with all settings set at as LOW as you can get them !!!! Not only that , I noticed certain important cockpit view adjustments such as " shift enter or backspace " which adjust the forward view out the cockpit ( which allows a proper view for taxing ) fail to work . Also , unlike FS2004 I'm unable to use a single joystick button for seamless shifting from " cockpit " to " virtual cockpit " without having to assign a seperate button or having to go up to the menue. My FS2004 automatically assignned these features right from the initial loading. Frankly , I'm not so sure ( as some people have already observed ) that the extra bells and whistles you get from FSX are worth the effort and price of a computor capable of running it .
