Thread: Creating Missions for Multiplayer

  1. Default Creating Missions for Multiplayer

I can add new aircraft, panels, sounds, tweak their config files to add new FX etc etc... but what I am a complete NEWB at is mission creation...

A couple of people were wanting to get together for a LAN party and fly around. I wanted to create a couple of missions (like a Search & Rescue Mission) where everything was already pre-set, and we didn't have to fake it. Something even as simple as flying within a certain distance/altitude over the target and 'completing' the mission.

I would also like moving targets too... trying to identify a single ship in a group of random tanker/liner/cargo ships to counter illegal smugglers... or something of that nature...

But, where do I start? What program do I need? How long will this take?

You need the SDK for FSX, which is included in the Delux and Gold versions. You will also need to get SP 1 and 2 for the SDK. The mission creator is in the SDK

I couldn't get the service packs to run. They all kept pinging back at me stating I needed a previous update first. Is there a solid link I can follow to all the updates for FSX?

The M$oft Site was less than helpful!

It might help if we knew: what version of FSX you are trying to update(RTM, Deluxe, Gold), where it is installed(C:\...\etc), and what Windows Version and bit depth.
Also the exact verbage of message(s) might provide some insight...Don

    FSX Deluxe + Acceleration
    WinXP (latest SP)

Disregard Last: I misread the error. I needed to install the original FSX SDK before installing the Acceleration version... my bad!

Once you have the SDK installed, you also need to install the SDK service packs to get it current.
