Thread: High-Def ELECTRA VC texture Preview.

  1. #1

Default High-Def ELECTRA VC texture Preview.

I have been doing a bit of painting again, still involving the FS KBT Electra. However I thought I would have a go at paitning the inside this time as the plain blue cockpit was just begging to be messed with. This is my first bit of texturing work of any worth/effort, it isn't particularly good or 'together' as I have been learning all the diferent photoshop techniques as I went along. Hopefully it's an improvment over the original textures though. I still have quite a bit to do, the overhead panels for example. I think I might get it done and uploaded in the next few days (assuming anyone wants it) if I am lucky. Afterwards I am going to have a go at doing the outside again. Here are a few shots of what I have been up to so far. You should be able to right click view image for a larger shot.

    1. Unfortunately the textures aren't mapped to the model very well and so there are some streaky bits I can't do much about.

    2. I think a certain Dave might have been trying to get behind this panel lol.

    3. I was pleased with my inlay in the glareshield. I think I might have to change it to Lockheed though.

Any comments, opinions, and more importanly suggestions would be appreciated.

Jeh: Absolutely superb work I can hardly wait for the upload

Since you asked one thing that desperately needs doing on this panel is having the engine numbers added to the 4 red emergency shutdown ("E") handles in the center of the glareshield. Although Team KBT did an otherwise brilliant job on this airplane this is a glaring omission.

In the real airplane these are labelled with the numbers "1" "2" "3" "4" in the white areas. If you could manage to do that you would single handedly advance the visual realism of this panel to near 100%

Thanks for your outstanding effort on this

Unfortunately Bill there is only one texture for all four handles. So I can't number them 1 to 4. In a few weeks after finishing the VC textures and redoing the Ansett paintjob on the outside in HD, which I am planning on doing from scratch with new rivet lines panels and bump mapping etc, I plan to start having a go at 3D modeling, depending on how this goes I was thinking about seeing what I could do in terms of the Electra VC at some point, so maybe in a few months I might have done something about the fire handles and all the streaky textures.

Thanks for the feedback Paul - well it "seemed like a good idea at the time" Looking forward to this upgrade - the Electra is my favorite FS airplane - your work is much appreciated
