Thread: excessive bouncing the dreamwings Dash 8-100 model

  1. Default excessive bouncing the dreamwings Dash 8-100 model

    Hey All,

    So I recently just downloaded the Dreamwings Dash8 model and then when I go to taxi and head down the runway, the plane has an excessive amount of shaking. Basically its the same thing when your going really fast in a fighter jet and then your plane starts to shake violently. Anyone know how to fix the excessive bouncing and shaking?

    Hello,

    Try those contacts points (aircraft.cfg)

    [contact_points]
    point.0 = 1, -5.0, 0.00, -7.70, 1500, 0, 1.617, 25.0, 0.500, 2.5, 0.9, 5.0, 6.0, 0, 100, 250
    point.1 = 1, -29.0, -12.99, -7.90, 3000, 1, 0.633, 0.0, 0.675, 2.5, 0.8, 6.0, 7.0, 2, 100, 250
    point.2 = 1, -29.0, 12.99, -7.90, 3000, 2, 0.633, 0.0, 0.675, 2.5, 0.8, 6.0, 7.0, 3, 100, 250
    point.3 = 2, -31.6, -42.50, 5.39, 1200, 0, 0.000, 0.0, 0.000, 0.0, 0.0, 0.0, 0.0, 5
    point.4 = 2, -31.6, 42.50, 5.39, 1200, 0, 0.000, 0.0, 0.000, 0.0, 0.0, 0.0, 0.0, 6
    point.5 = 2, -68.6, 0.00, 1.22, 1200, 0, 0.000, 0.0, 0.000, 0.0, 0.0, 0.0, 0.0, 9
    point.6 = 2, 0.0, 0.00, -3.92, 1200, 0, 0.000, 0.0, 0.000, 0.0, 0.0, 0.0, 0.0, 4

    max_number_of_points = 21

    static_pitch = 0.08 //degrees, pitch when at rest on the ground (+=Up, -=Dn)
    static_cg_height = 7.2 //feet, altitude of CG when at rest on the ground
    gear_system_type=1 //Hydraulic

    And also this:

    Moments of Inertia
    empty_weight_pitch_MOI = 111701

    Hello,

    Maybe you can have some more help if you read this :

    Don't remember where I found it but the change in the aircraft cfg to eliminate bounce is to amend point.0 under the contact points section:
    point.0 = 1.000, 26.000, 0.000, -6.700, 3000.000, 0.000, 0.500, 55.000, 0.200, 3.500, 1.000, 4.800, 4.800, 0.000, 0.000, 0.000
    It worked for me.

    So .. it's seems the Mowgli22 solution must work !
    Mine above was for another Dash .. sorry for confusion !!

    Never flew the Dreamwings DH8 but I have been flying the Majestic DH8 for a number of years and it does not show any signs of excessive shaking or bouncing. It handles like a DH8 is supposed to. What did you do to solve the problem? btw, if you want to get a good landing all the time, land with Flaps 15 and the props at 1050.

    collotty,
    You did not say if you have the DW Dash-8 and had any bouncing or shaking. And if you do, you don't say if you TRIED THE SUGGESTED CHANGES. If you did have it and then tried the 2 suggested fixes you would find out if (and when) they 'worked' (or not).

    So the nose wheel compression ratio was wrong (ie: '.., 0.200, 3.500, 4.000,..'). The '4.000' should be from '0.900' to '1.000'. That took care of the 'bouncing'.

    The MOI's, for 'pitch' were too low (ie: '98556.000'). The increase to '111701.000' produced a suitable 'change' to reduce (the appearance of) 'shaking'.

    That was IT (trust me). I doubt if any other changes to cfg or air would make any difference, or improve it any further, so I'm guessing there were no other changes made. But the OP can correct me if I am wrong. Where did he go? He is obviously off flying the Dash-8 and is not aware 'we' were left in the dark (hehe).
