Thread: Additional Throttle Controller

    Default Additional Throttle Controller

I have a small issue with a throttle unit I am building. At the moment I have the CH-products USB yoke (with mixture/throttle/prop levers) and the gameport ch-products rudders enabler using the rd-only utility. Now, does anyone know how I might go about connecting the new three lever throttle unit I am building such that it will work with the rudder and existing yoke? I took apart an older gameport yoke and used the pots from that to build the new throttle. Any suggestions would be most welcome. I am attempting to construct enough controls so I can simulate a piston twin realistically.

if you look through this site, you will find an old news item on how to construct your own cockpits. It was quite detailed, giving all sorts of different suggestions about setups. It may well have what you're looking for. It was on the news page a couple of months ago, but I'm not sure where you'll find it now. Hope this helps, though.

I recommend that you just use the pots from the old joystick and get the radioshack gameport-USB converter. This will allow you to connect the pots to the usb port. the converter costs about $15. Then you will also need to get a connector to connect the throttles to the converter. If you dont want to waste any money, connect them through the gameport. You have enough axes left in the gamport for 3 axes. The CH pedals use only one axis. This will mean that you have to cut of the connector of the pedals and put on a new one with the throttle on it aswell.

If you dont find the reviews for some reason, here is which pins are important: (you can see the numbers on the connectors)
    pin 1= 5 volt
    pin 3=axis 1
    pin 7=axis 2
    pin 11=axis 3
    pin 13=axis 4
    pin 4=ground

All this works. I made a spoiler lever myself this weekend and it works great. Next weekend I'm making the flaps lever. I do recomend that you also get FSUIPC if you dont already have it. This program is great to program all axis possible in FS.
