Thread: the game isnt smooth.

  1. Default the game isnt smooth.

    hi guys,
i played a lot on fsx and its ran very smooth, and the FPS were very hight about(40-70).
and on the last i played on the game and it didnt run smooth.
the FPS stayed hight(35-70) but the game itself was a little bit lag.
my question is: do freeware addons can damage the FPS cause i downloaded a couple of planes lately. i have about 8 freewares addons, can it effect on the game?
also i started to fly near mountains can it effect?. i will very appreciate if someone can help?

Freeware, payware, doesn't matter. It's the complexity, and how well the model, panel and gauges conform to the sim.
Some plane and scenery addons, when used together, are complex enough to bring even a high-end computer to it's knees.

I've been relegated to an older computer that doesn't do well when the sliders are up too far. I can max all the sliders and still see FPS well over 50. That doesn't mean it isn't choppy.

Set your FPS limit at 25, either internally in FSX, or externally using FPS Limiter. Now tune your sliders for smooth flights. If you get into an area that needs it, pause, back off, resume.

Sometimes it helps to reboot your computer before a session, which clears the memory caches, extra background processes etc...Don

Both aircraft and scenery will affect your frame rate. A complex aircraft at detailed airport scenery will produce a lower frame rate than a simple aircraft flying over green countryside or up high in the sky. Whether an aircraft is simple or complex is often a matter of how it was built and what gauges it uses. Over time you will learn which particular aircraft cause the greatest hit to your frame rate.

    Hi Michael

As suggested earlier, set your frame rate to 25 (or even a little lower). Unlike FS9, FSX does not seem to run better with frame rate set to unlimited.

The key point that I am trying to get across is that the frame rate will vary with scenery complexity (and aircraft complexity).

As a test, do this -

First fly with your favourite aircraft from and around a small quiet airport. See how it looks.

Second fly with your favourite aircraft from a more detailed airport eg Heathrow or JFK (USA).

Let us know how your sim responds in both situations.

hi man really thank for the help!
    so its go like this,
when i set the frame to unlimited and the mesh complexity was to 20 and in the small airport from the cockpit the frames were between 40-60 from outside between 50-75
in heathrow on the same settings from the cockpit between 30-45 from outside between 35-50.
the scenery complexity was to normal and the autogen density was to normal i downloaded the HDE clouds and detailshttp://simviation.com/1/search?submit=1&keywords=HDE+v2,+Photo+Realistic+Texture+Pack+&x=0&y=0 from simviation and i noticed that when i play and set the setting to alot of clouds its alittle bit jumping do you think that the hde clouds is what make it jumpy? thanks very much hope you can help me please,
    michael cheers

Have you tried setting your frame rate to 25 and then seeing how it all looks?
