Thread: Autobrake?

  1. Default Autobrake?

I've been doing mostly GA simulation until this weekend when I decided to check out the default 737-400. I love manually flying this thing. Don't understand the autopilot fans out there...but anyway...

I was going through the pre-takeoff checklists and it told me to arm the Autobrake to RTO (rejected takeoff). What is the Autobrake, and what are all the different settings for?

    Hey..!

Autobrake is an Automatic brake which is armed for exampel before take off to RTO. If after a speed of 80kts something happens which requiers to abort the take off, the autobrakes brake with the maximum availible brake power automatically.
The same thing during landing. You have the settings OFF; DISARM; 1 .... MAX
If you select one before landing the aircraft will brake the the value one automatically. The values are specific to the manufacturer of the airplane but you can say one is softbraking and for example 4 or MAX is hardcore.
