Hello, I have a home built PC built in 2007 or 08 bsed on input provided on this forum.
Asus P5E board
Core 2 Duo (by now a subject of "antique" I suppose) 3.0GHz default state.
OSZ power supply 700W

First symptoms showed up 6 months ago when I was not able to turn it "on" with an "on" button.
It did NOT shut it self off then, the problem was in getting it "on". What I did was unplugging the cable off the PSU, then plugging it back, resetting the switch.

...Now, 6 months later, it shuts it self off not only during operation, but also during start up, before it gets to the desk top.
So to me this does not look like a virus, I am thinking it is the PSU I must replace, but I ned a confirmation from someone who knows better (I'm not a pro in this field)

If this looks to you like a CPU, what new CPU do you recommend? (Antec model preffered, I have more luck with that name)
If this isn't a PSU, then what?
