Thread: PAYWARE and SHAREWARE files in Flighsim.com Library

  1. Default PAYWARE and SHAREWARE files in Flighsim.com Library

It is really annoying that Flightsim.com allows these files in their library. I thought the site was for sharing free, files amongst Sim enthusiasts, not to promote those making money from the hobby. These files belong in the Fspilot shop not in the file library.

I assume you mean the demo's that can appear from time to time. It can be a good thing to have a demo as it could help us choose on what we want to buy.

    Hi,

Can you post 3 specific examples of such files?
    Thanks,

    Jim

I'm glad you have nothing but the best of wishes and intent for flightsimming. You will find that this website just about started the freeware/addon community. Like others, I'm curious as to exactly what you are talking about. I've never seen innapropriate software here on the world's largest collection of free MSFS addons.

As was already asked, may we please have some examples of software that shouldn't be here?

Thank you for joining, and I look forward to your involvement. Hopefully you will post in the future under better and more positive circumstances.

I don't know to which files the OP refers, but I recently sent a PM regarding a payware soundset in the FS2004 New Files section. Right in the description it said to send $12 to unlock the installer. I always thought there was a separate section for payware, and expected anything I found in the new files download to be freeware. I've nothing against payware here, just don't like the two being mixed.

Hey guys have a heart, just look at how many freeware files are available, 67,041 for FS9 alone if you find a couple of payware units that get through so what? its bound to happen that a couple will sneak through, but when you consider how much you have to choose from I think bouquets rather then bombs are appropreate. When I have found the odd exception I move on and usually find a freeware version of what I am looking for, and if I dont , I just consider myself extreamily fortunate to be part of a family that shares so much free stuff.

The Moderators have better things to do than individually monitoring the contents of uploads. Members can be helpful by reporting any specific instances they come across. It isn't very helpful to make generalised reports that can't be acted on.

Anyway, I've never come across any such files.

Well it is not exactly rocket science to find payware... I can enter "soundset shareware" in the search box and get an immediate hit on 19 elements: those are all clearly marked in bold as items you have to purchase.

Whether this is a relevant problem or not, this is another issue. I can figure out by myself I have to pay to get those items and the fact to have them in the library does not seem such a big problem.
