Thread: Skid Marks

Default Skid Marks

Hi everybody,

I like the skidmarks the tires of the airplane leaves during circuit training making touch and go's. After an hour or so one can see how good you did, or not. Some skidmarks will be on the numbers some of them on the underun and some of them only one foot long and 30 yards later another one (That would have been a bumpy landing :0).

My Question is;
Everytime I start FS2002 the skidmarks are gone and I have to "paint" them again. Is there a possibility that leaves the skidmarks after you shutdown FS2002???
I tried to save the flight but to no avail...

Thanks for your answer, negative or possitive...

And how big is your hard drive? Oh, and how long do you plan to wait for scenery to load? ;-)

Hi Kurtis,

I have 2 hard drives, one is 80Gb and the other is 120Gb.
My FS2002 directory totals 17.5 Gigabyte. I have a lot of scenery (9Gb). My Main Texture directory is nearly one (1) Gigabyte big so when I start FS2002 it takes nearly one minute to start, but when is starts I have everything I need and I feel in heaven.
So do you have a serious answer or are you just pulling my leg ;o)

LAST EDITED ON Jun-13-02 AT 01:01PM (EDT)[p]lol, just trying to point out that over time it would accumulate mucho hard drive space to store that info, and mucho time (and RAM) to load it again when you started the sim.

FWIW, we went through the same thing when Grand Prix Legends (racing sim) came out - people wanted to know why the skid marks didn't last from session to session. In that case, they actually had a skid mark "buffer", and once it was full the oldest ones would start to disappear. There have been a few other sims with similar ideas, but none (that I'm aware of) that persist this across sessions.

If there is a will there is a way! It's probably just making a buffer size bigger. The only problem is where is the buffer? And whether or not FS resets the buffer evertime FS loads.
