I had the same problem. It started after I installed the ENBseries I think. However, tried all of the suggestions and nothing worked. Soooo I deleted FSX and reinstalled. All seems fine now, except the putting back all of my add-ons.

If fs acceleration is installed insert disk and select repair worked effortlessly
Sounds to me like your propellers might be set to minimum RPM and/or feathered. Or that you have some odd keybind that sets it to feathered when you are using some other button/lever/command.
That would explain why only your props/turboprops are affected, and jets are not, since the prop-RPM controls have no effect when in a jet.
I would check keybindings and make sure the propeller control command is not bound to something else aside from the default controls.
Also if you made a new default flight that you saved at some point it can screw it up as well if you had your propeller RPM set to minimum/feathered when you did the save.
Other than that I dunno what it could be (except some file getting corrupted or some such).
Don't know if you solved it already, I had the same problem (a major problem for me, I only use props). I deleated all saved flights with parked (and dead) planes and suddenly everything was OK again.![]()
I have had the same problem, used the ACC disk to repair. Just narrowed it down tonight what was happening, in my case anyway. Now, the reason it was happening to me was becuz it was from a server i was going to. I would enter the server in a prop and my engine/s wouldn't be working, and they wouldn't start in the server unless I switched to a plane with a jet engine. Never caught it for several fixes, but it was a GameSpy FSX server.
