Thread: ADE9 and FSX Delux - Taxyway limits

  1. Smile ADE9 and FSX Delux - Taxyway limits

Hi Firstly, to everyone out there who takes the time to help others, thank you.

Now for the tricky bit, I am currently trying to update Blackpool airport in the UK (EGNH) which is a home to general aviation and the growing low cost airline market (Jet2).

The issue is that the 737s are routed down taxyways thae are only used in real life by GA (Taxyways B and C). So I would like to know if it is possible to force the "Big" jets to use one route from the terminal (taxyway A) whilst allowing GA aircraft to use the smaller taxyways.

That would depend on where the updated terminal was located in relation to GA parking, but in general I would say that it won't work.

I think a typical approach would be to split up the taxi paths, so the 737s don't have a connected path to the taxiways you want to keep them off of. You can hide the breaks by overlaying a closed taxiway that isn't connected to anything, just gives the visual textures and lines. But if you want to keep the 737 off B and C, but it is OK for the GA to use A, then that is a bit of a challenge. Try to visualize the desired taxipaths as independent of the visual scenery and try it out. Make sure you test with different wind and departures/arrivals to see how it is working.

Hi, Thanks for your input gents.

I have managed to creat a solution for this airport. First I created bespoke taxy pathe for the big jets from the terminal to the runway intersection that is used. So now I have a path for GA aircraft and another one for scheduled aircraft. the new taxy path needs to terminate at a hold short point that will allow the jets to enter the runway and not be routed beck via the other existing routes. sounds complicated but I will try to put it better if anyone is interested. I suspect there may be conflicts eventually, but early testing suggests it will be minimal in this case.

It would be better if the taxyway attributes allowed for a max weight or wingspan to be considered when routing AI traffic, but that is up to MS I guess. Anyway, thanks for your inputs.
