CV-240 / T-29 USAF Spyplane Opa Locka - Cayman Islands

This Convair was delivered to the United States Air Force in 1950 and was used as a spyplane over Europe during the cold war. Aviation Safety Networks claimes it was damaged beyond repair in 1967, but the aircraft production list says it was withdrawn and stored in 1973. I was able to buy in for a low price and made a flight from Florida (Opa Locka) over Cuba to the Cayman Islands.

A somewhat different plane and location there. Very nice!
That spyplane is about as far from an SR-71 as can be. It uses the hiding in plain sight principle...

Thank you Bob, it's appreciated That's why Mr. Castro gave permission to fly over Cuba, he is still laughing after I mailed him a pic of my "Spy-plane"

Great shots! I didn't know that there was a T-29 used as a spy plane!

Opa Locka is where I first started to learn to fly back in the seventies. Of course for me that was in little Piper Tomahawks & C-172s.
