Thread: FSX Rain Effects on VC

  1. Default FSX Rain Effects on VC

Is this normal? I was operating a DC-3 in heavy rain from Melbourne to Tasmania. Rain sounds ok but it appears as the rain got heavy the windscreen turned an opaque light blue and would flicker between being opaque and the outside view of the clouds and rain. It made a landing impossible because it stayed opaque until minimums. The question is this normal, perhaps icing? or is it a bug. Any thoughts or fixes appreciated.

Using a FS2004 airplane in FSX does this.

It is a consequences of changes between previous version of Flight Simulator. This should help:

Get the DC-3 Airways FSX version of the Dakota. It doesn't do that. http://www.dc3airways.com/our_fleet/dc3_fleet.htm

Maintain thine airspeed, lest the ground rise up and smite thee.

I have had no problem either in downloading or running it. When you start it, there is a window popping-up that explains what the application is going to do.

Maybe you could detail more which "error" you get...

Why not send folks to where the official Microsoft/ACES "fix" may be downloaded? The one that actually implements VC Rain instead of using dummy files?

    Let me think... Because:

    a) That is what I found when I had the same problem
    b) it worked when I used it so I recommend it
    c) it comes from Flight One software so I wouldn't be so full of myself to call it "dummy"
    d) Microsoft itself in that link points out the Flight One solution as alternative:
"Note: As an alternative, our friends the add-on developers at Flight 1 have created a tool that automatically installs replacement textures that they've created, and they've graciously made it available for free. This tool and the files it installs were created voluntarily by a third party and are not supported by Microsoft. "

    Other "valuable" questions?

I have a slightly different problem. When I download static real-world weather which has heavy rain, the rain stops after a few minutes
