Default Enemy Engaged 2 on W7/64

I have been running Enemy Engaged 2: RAH-66 Comanche versus Ka-52 Hokum by Strategy First on XP and Vista 32 computers with few problems. I now have a W7 64 computer that won't. The program loads ok, and opens with the intro video going to the menu screen. After setting up the game options the first time proceeding into the game produces the "The Program has encountered an error and has shut down .... " etc. Now it also happens whenever I try to open the Options menu after startup. XP Compatibility has been set, and all available updates installed, to no avail.

Has anyone had similar experiences with this game on W7?

    Hello Johnost,
I to have Win 7 x64 and did the compatibility, and run as administrator thingy, didn’t think of tuning off the UAC. But, really the issue is much simpler then I thought. I have a widescreen 1680x1050 resolution monitor and I did this little trick with some stubborn games and they worked. Here’s the little magic trick that I did. I just changed the resolution of Windows resolution screen to 1024x768, and then started the game. It runs perfect and I haven’t installed any patches. The Game will automatically set itself at a higher resolution. I hope this works for you.

update: Running on windows 7 pro x64, in the enemy engaged 2 video folder {c:\program files (x86)\strategy first\enemy engaged 2\cohokum\video} remove all the video files from this folder and the game will start and play. I hope this works for you.

Thanks much, Draven, for your attention and advice - but how did you dig up this old post? I can't remember how, but I did get EE2 to run sometimes, but not reliably. I then acquired Black Shark and later Apache Air Assault, the first being a rather demanding simulation, and the second more of a fun arcade game, and they have kept me busy enough so I dropped EE2. I am glad to hear that you have EE2 running perfectly.
