Thread: New Forum Software

  1. #1

Red face Have I Started A Trend With The Smaller Images ?

Seems we have some new software running here at the SS forum, nearly identical to the Sim-Outhouse setup, which I am used to ..

No complaints, but I have noticed that the members here that usually post large, widescreen type images - they look smaller, even when utilizing imageshack etc.

So perhaps my smaller screenies will blend in now! Mike

Default no more full size pics?

to you moderators: i see youve changed the forums software again, and i see that at the moment posts have far smaller screenshots than they used to. am i missing out on a place i have to click to see them in their original upload size as before? please dont tell me thats not available anymore. does the 200k limit still apply, and if so why are all the shots so much smaller? this really, really detracts big time from the enjoyment i was getting from your site, and quite frankly motivates me to look elsewhere. is the site in trouble financially? if you just came out and said so then asked for donations, ill bet many (including myself) would be willing to kick in something to get it backthe way it was.

to you members: if u feel the same way please say so here.

heres a pic to make the post "legal"

It's a new software, so there is bound to be some bugs/quirks to work through. I'm sure Rick is aware, and is working on it. The site is not in a financial bind. If it were, there would not have been any software upgrades. Give them some time to dig into the software a bit more, and I'm sure they'll get it squared away.

    P. S.--Posting a screenshot does not make it a legal post. But, this one will stand because it is a legitimate question, and I'm sure the situation will be cleared up.

I don't know where my banner went. It displays in my profile, but not in my posts. Strange!

    Default More Than One Shot

Just trying to get my head around the new software.

These shots show up full size 1280x720 in the preview, but are then scaled to 800x450 once the post is submitted. These shots were uploaded straight from my PC, it seems we have the option to bulk upload now, up to a maximum of Ten screenshots per post, so no change there. The same size limits apply as far as I can see, Max Filesize 195.3KB and 1280x1024pixels, which doesn't seem to matter now as the shots will be scaled anyway. Will have a fiddle about throughout the morning and see what I come up with. Might need a new Sticky about posting screenshots now.

Posting the shots like this has removed the option to "Click image for larger version", plus there are no thumbnails present either.

So far, the software looks fine to me. I like, especially, the editing feature right in the original post. Pics size (reganding to actual size, not pixels concentration) will not give us extra pictures quallity; good exposition, composition and subject; not size, are the variables defining and expectacular shot.

The name of the game is bandwidth . The bigger an image is; in size and pixels load, the more bandwidth it uses and bandwidth is expensive

What's wrong with your pictures?.. They are amazing and expectacular because you mastered composition, exposure and subject carrectly, not size; size is irrelevant to a picture quality
