Default Flywise World Relief Challenge 4 - Leg 8

A short hop from Wick to Kirkwall continues the tour.

    Leaving Wick airport.

Wick golf course is a true links course, open to all the elements.....

...but on a nice day gives a nice view out over Sinclairs Bay.

Passing John O' Groats, heading for the most Northern tip of mainland Scotland.

Flying West for a short time to St Johns Point, where I will turn to cross the Pentland Firth.

    Over the island of Stroma.

    Towards South Ronaldsay.

A lot of the Orkney Islands are attached to each other by causeways, South Ronaldsay is attached to Burray, visible above the wing, left and up from Burray is Glims Holm and right of that is Lambs Holm, where the Italian prisoners of war were kept and built a stunning little chapel from a Nissen hut. The chapel still stands and is a must see when visiting Orkney. Many images of the chapel can be seen here courtesy of Google images http://www.google.co.uk/images?q=ita...w=1280&bih=870

Turned towards Kirkwall, past Tankerness Loch.

    few more in the reply......

A couple of shots over Kirkwall as I prepare the Cessna for landing.

Final approach to runway 09 sees me passing a solitary wind turbine.

"Kirkwall tower, Cessna N399CK, request taxi to parking"

    On my way to park.

    Shut down.

    Thanks for looking
    Brian.
