EDIT: I got it to work so that it'll show up in the Instrument panels. But the most singular thing happened: The "Doors" option under the Keyboard Commands of the PMDG disappeared, and was replaced with a "Cargo" section. It's as if modifying the panel.cfg file led to the aircraft being labeled as a cargo plane instead of a passenger plane....
And on top of that, the virtual cockpit of the pmdg 747 is non functional. None of the screens work... Man, it is such a mess...
Anyone have any ideas on how to fix this dilemma?

Yes, let me suggest un-doing what you did to get the pmdg back in working order. Then, try installing FDSFX in a default aircraft to first make sure everything is installed and working correctly and to make sure you understand how to install it in a proven aircraft. May take a little extra time at first but will make future installs sooo easy.

Long Live the Tak
I tried putting it with the default planes, but it's not allowing me to make the changes. I noticed on some aircraft, it tells me access denied when saving changes in cfg.
I have settings that I am the administrator on this computer, but still won't let me.
Live it up today, because tomorrow will always be a different flight...
Try turning off UAC (User Account Control) temporarily before attempting any edits.
I would also suggest Right clicking on your FSX.exe file and under the Compatibility option, set it to run "as adminstrator" also. FS needs to make changes while the program runs and you do not want those changes to be blocked by "permission" issues.
Hope that helps.
