Configuring gliders' brakes in FSX

Hello,

I'm very new to FSX and I'm currently ordering a Saitek x52 Pro + Pedals setup and I'm wondering is it possible to configure speed brakes to for example the throttle controls when using gliders (I'm going to use ASK21 by Wolfgang Piper). And what are the names of the commands for toggle speed brake locks in FSX? Because when I'm going through the list of key binds in FSX, i don't know which one I'm supposed to be looking at.

Correct. The annoying thing is that you can't program FSX for incremantal spoilers which makes glider landing very unrealistic.

If you have a spare axis on a throtle quadrant...

Control Axis Tab_Spoiler Axis.

This allows incramental control of your spoilers.

I use the Saitek yoke & quadrant and it works fine for me.

Unfortunately not, but we do have a USB gamepad hanging around that nobody is using that might work.

You can use the regular '/' (spoiler). You go into air file and set the 'spoiler drag' (which by my estimate would be for 200.000000) and also set the 'spoiler cycle' time to 1.000000 (second). Then you map a key/button for the spoiler and 'tap' it as you slow down. Press the '/' key, for example, for 1 second 'on', then 'off', repeat.. As your speed is reduced the intermittent (1 sec on, then off) will allow a somewhat 'icremental' speed brake action. Should work. Nothing says you HAVE to leave it on full time until you stop. Use my head (hehe).

In the VC you can also use the mouse to move the spoiler lever.

Ah yes, I tried the mouse inthe VC idea.

Stick in my right hand and trying to control the mouse with my left was not successful though - may have got used to it with a bit more practice.

Thanks Chuck - I've come accross your suggestion before, but have yet to try it. Next time I start to fly gliders again I will give it a go (I've saved it for reference).

I have an X52, and speedbrakes are configured as the slider axis, reversed. This puts them on the slider just under my thumb on the throttle, and I pull it down towards me to extend them.
