Thread: Oh no...more trivia ?!

    Default Oh no...more trivia ?!

OK.....Herk had his moments of fame; Lemme try it.

What's wrong with this pix? And don't tell me we're a half a dot high on the G/S. That was the A/Ps fault. I disconnected right after this. Here's your chance, Herk !

This represents my last flight before I retired. Airport ahead is KPDX.

The RMI is pointing to a VOR that's the same DME as the ILS.. which would put the VOR transmitter out in the water ?

You have WAY too much fuel left.
    Thanks,

38,000 pounds (19 tons) of fuel four a 4-engine jet might not be an issue.. especially if the PAX/Cargo load is low.. (unless it's something like a Bae-146 )..

OK.....I was just trying to make Herk feel a little better.

Actually, there's nothing wrong with this pix either except that I'm ONE knot fast. And...it was my last flight on my favorite jet transport.....the DC-8. This was a -71. I liked the -62 the best because it carried LOTS of fuel !! But, I flew the 50F and -61 as well.

I NEVER landed with less than a couple hours of fuel. We were arriving from Kona, Hawaii. Seattle was probably the Alternate, and we had some Hold Fuel as well as Contingency Fuel. You NEVER have too much fuel unless you're on fire !!

As to the RMI Needle.....it is pointing at the Terminal VOR. The other needle is pointing at the Outer Locator, which we have already passed. That little selector switch allows you to change.

The clock is on Zulu Time.

    Thanks for the replies.

Maybe it's a perception thing.. but if that terminal VOR is the same distance away as the ILS.. and it's more than 20 degrees to the right.. it's out in the water.

Without reading any responses above, Id say you're over-speed for full flaps....IAS should be 120kts. Everything else looks good.
