Hello,
I'm new to repainting aircraft (very used to repainting trains for MSTS), and have some questions regarding DXT output and the format for .bmps that FS9 uses.
I've searched the forums, but have been unable to find a solution to my particular problem. I'm trying to paint an Air Canada A321, based on the iFDG model. To start with, I'm using Photoshop CS3, and find that if I simply save a texture as a 32-bit .bmp and place it in the correct Aircraft folder, the sim crashes upon selecting the aircraft. Exporting via DXTbmp in an Extended 32-bit 888-8 or similar format solves this issue, but I personally don't like the blurriness of the textures in the sim. I understand certain DXT formats save on framerates, but I have a machine with plenty of memory to boot so this is not an issue for me. Could anybody explain how I can export the .bmps properly to get crisper textures in the sim? If I zoom in very close to the aircraft while running FS9, the detail is fabulous. However, anything a little farther out and it (only the aircraft) gets very fuzzy. It also appears this way in the selection menu.
I'd greatly appreciate any help! Thank you and best regards,
Christer
