Thread: gauges folder

  1. Default gauges folder

In FSX gauges folder are the zipped cad file left as a zipped or are they unzipped. There are alot of files that have the same name inside and would be overritten if all the zipped files were to be extacted and put in this gauges folder. Please help me out

Cab files are normally not unzipped (de-cabbed) - FSX will find and use the contents just they way they are.

Hope that is what you needed to know.

When installing Add-On aircraft, I usually move the files that go into the Gauges folder in to the Panel folder for that particular aircraft.

FSX does support this and I don't have to worry about overwriting files with other versions.

Logically speaking, if they were meant to be "unzipped" then they wouldn't have been compressed into .CAB (Cabinet) files to begin with!

I didn't mean to unzip the cab files. Simply copy them to the Panel folder instead of the gauges folder. This way you can have several versions of the cab files with the same name for different aircraft and not have any conflicts.

Of course! But then, I wasn't addressing what you wrote. I was responding to the Original Poster!!!

Which is why I quoted him, and not you...
