Thread: Squashed Instrument Panels

  1. Default Squashed Instrument Panels

    I've recently given FS98 new life by replacing the old FS98 default instrument panels with "new" panels for all my FS98 addon aircraft (and a couple default planes, too). Like the Tinmouse B737-200 aircraft for FS2004, the B737-200 Advanced Panel I found for my fleet of B737-200s, is incredible (if the authors had made it payware, it would have been worth every penny, what ever they might have asked)! Actually, I've discovered this to be true for most all the replacement panels. I'm left kicking my self for not doing this years ago!

    The problem I've run into is this; in replacing the old default panels with new ones I've found, on loading some aircraft, that the instrument panel view comes up squashed or "flatten". This is easily solved by grabbing the top edge of the instrument panel and dragging it to the top of the screen. However, it would be preferable if this didn't happen! Question: What is causing this and how can it be fixed so the panel comes up fully open as it should?

    Check the panel.cfg file for;
    file=back.bmp (The background bitmap)
    size_mm=1368 (where 1368 is the "back.bmp" width).
    windowsize_ratio=1

    When you resize to full screen with the mouse are the gauges distorted?
    Some newer panels are configured for wide-screen.

    Extra panels that are not meant to be full screen are sized differently...Don

    Thanks, Don

    I'll check the affected panel.cfg files!

    No, fortunately none of the gauges are distorted after I restore the panel to full screen! What's funny, too, is that on occasion, if I load a plane that doesn't suffer from a squashed panel problem, then load a plane that does (with the view set to the panel window) the panel will appear correctly sized! Go figure...
