    Default Flight1 172

    Hello all,
After a break from Flight Sim(month and a half due to yoke problems), I am back. I am looking for a realistic Cessna 172, and the best I found after reading some reviews was the Flight1 Cessna 172 Skyhawk package.

    Is the Flight1 172 a good aircraft?

This will be my first payware General Aviation aircraft. I have a few questions.

In the reviews, I didn't find much about frame rates. On a lower end system, does it return frame rates similar to the default FS9 172?

    Does it have realistic animations?

Does it have annoying bugs and issues with the software?

    Is it easy to install?

    Thanks in advance,
    Cody

    Hi,

I'm not familiar with the Flight1 172, but an alternative would be Carenado's offering. I have a few of Carenado's aircraft and find they have virtually no impact on frame-rates over the default aircraft.

    Certainly worth looking into.

In the past I have looked in to Carenados' 172 and decided that I would try the Flight1 172. If I am unhappy with Flight1's version I will certainly give Carenado a try!!

    Thanks for the reply,

I must say the Flight1 172 does look great. I'll look forward to hearing how you get on with it as I have a fairly lightweight PC too.

Also, have you taken a look at RealAir's Free 172. Third download on this page. http://www.realairsimulations.com/li...page=downloads

Not the best 172 in the world, but is great for the price.

When I get some spare cash, I will certainly try out the flight1 172. I'll post a review of the aircraft on this site like I have done with REXFS9 and the PMDG 747X in the past.

    Thank You,
    Cody

Actually it is the best 172 in the world. Well, in my opinion anyway . I use a merge of the Carenado model, RealAir flight dynamics, and the FSX Skyhawk panel that I ported over for use in FS9. Don't have and haven't flown the Flight1 version so I can't speak for it, but the RealAir FDE is awesome even with the default Skyhawk model and panel, and spare cash isn't even a requirement. Try it, you'll like it.

I have the Carenado 172II N. It's really amazing! The animations are very realistic to me.

I have a simple machine, not top of the line. It's a Dell Inspiron 530S. I've upgraded the mem card to a radion (spelling?) 4600.

When I fly this plane I usually get 120-140 fps.

I like it a lot, the only issue I'm having with it is trying to figure out if you can make the autopilot hold your altitude. It will hold your heading or NAV if you are on GPS but I can't get it told my altitude. It's fine for shorter flights, less than 1 hour...but sitting here for a flight that is longer than an hour in windy conditions can get hard/annoying. I like using the FS ATC and he will constantly keep telling me, you are 300 above, you are 300 below your assigned alt. I can usually get it to stay +/- 100-200 but It's very hard in real weather conditions to get it to hold a constant alt.

It's strange because when I'm climbing or descending I can have a nice smooth climb or descent. Just not sure why I can't get her to slight at a steady altitude.

Hmm, you should try emailing Carenado and asking them whats wrong.

    I didn't really like the realair 172 :S

Gonna try my luck with Flight1
