Thread: VOR in DC3 FSX

  1. Default VOR in DC3 FSX

    Hi.
    I am pretty new at FSX and are just starting to learn how to fly IFR.
    Is there any way to add a VOR/ILS needle in the default DC3?

    Sure, by editing the panel.cfg (found in the panel folder of you can add/edit) any gauge instrument you want. Before you start: BACKUP the original.

    This example moves the ADF gauge to the spot of the turn/bank indicator, and puts a VOR needle where the ADF originally was. The //lines are the originals.

    Code:

    [VCockpit01]
    file=Panel_Decals_DC3_1.bmp
    size_mm=512,512
    pixel_size=512,512
    texture=$Douglas_DC3
    background_color=0,0,0
    gauge00=Douglas_DC3!annunciator_vacuum, 347, 480, 21, 28
    gauge01=Douglas_DC3!clock, 404, 155, 70, 71
    gauge02=Douglas_DC3!oat, 401, 400, 72, 73
    gauge03=Douglas_DC3!suction_gauge, 326, 154, 76, 76
    gauge04=Douglas_DC3!annunciator_voltage, 325, 480, 21, 28
    gauge05=Douglas_DC3!annunciator_oil_right, 369, 480, 22, 28
    gauge06=Douglas_DC3!annunciator_oil_left, 392, 480, 21, 27
    gauge07=Douglas_DC3!annunciator_fuel_right, 258, 480, 21, 28
    gauge08=Douglas_DC3!annunciator_fuel_left, 280, 480, 22, 28
    gauge09=Douglas_DC3!annunciator_cabin_doors, 303, 480, 21, 28
    //gauge10=Douglas_DC3!turn_and_bank, 0, 382, 117, 117
    gauge10=Douglas_DC3!radio_compass, 0, 382, 117, 117
    //gauge11=Douglas_DC3!radio_compass, 123, 2, 143, 144
    gauge11=Beech_Baron!Horizontal Situation Indicator, 123, 2, 143, 144
    gauge12=Douglas_DC3!altimeter, 118, 382, 116, 118

    gauge13=....
    Syntax is basicly gaugeXX=gaugename, x-pos, y-pos, width, height

    Result shows in attached pic.

    This is an example for the VC, where in most cases you have the "offer" an instrument to put another in place. In 2D things are basicly the same, but a lot easier.

    Just don't forget the remark on the backup...
