    Default Glider gauges missing.

    Hi Simmers,

In XP I had gliders with great display of panels and gauges including the caiset.gau, ASW 18, yawstring, vario...in Wolfgang Piper's great models in FSx and FS9 as well as some from Christian Drawz in FS9

On my new system running w7 64, I copy my best addon freeware glider files into FSX or FS9 and get no gauges and panels are blank or totally missing. If the GPS displays it is not located correctly. Externally the gliders look great and fly well once airborne. My skew command is screwed up also which results in rapid spinning but I think I can fix that after reading about it here in the search files.

The payware Aerosoft DiscusX program works perfectly and MS default gliders are OK.

Has this occurred with anyone? Do I need to add a missing file to the FSX and FS9 Gauges or modules or the aircraft?

    Thanks for your help,
    Cal

No idea.........However, if you manage to get the yawstring working please let me know as I've not been able to in FSX at all.

Default I'll shout it from the rooftops.

Ian, Yes, I'll let all know if I succeed with the yawstring and gauges. I'm not someone who knows my way around code or parameters but I try all kinds of things and I don't give up easily. Sometimes I guess right.

I'll gladly share my experiences. I recently got the Aerosoft Discus X glider ( payware) and I've never found a more life-like yawstring. It actually whips around in the wind. Maybe I should be satisfied with that one excellent plane but what about my Blanick, ASK15, LS18, and DG100. I'm determined to have those back in order so stay tuned.

    good flights, Cal

Yep, I love flying the Blanik. I learned to glide in Bocians, a Blanik and a Ka4.

Nowadays, using Wolfgang Pipers models, FSX, thermals and photoscenery, I'm reliving those days all over again.

Default My next effort to restore gauges

    Hi all,

No time last night to try this but I KNOW that I neglected to reinstall the necessary [old modules] script in my new FSX cfg or Modules or my FS9 cfg or modules. In many "read me" files it prints out what is needed and states that you must have the text in your program files. Whooops.

I downloaded a page from Wolfgang Piper's excellent site at www. FS Zegelflugzeuge and will follow those instructions and it may be what I need to restore my panels and gauges, perhaps a working yawstring as well. I'll report back after I do this.

    happy flights, Cal

    Default Success with glider gauges.

    Hey simmers,

As I posted earlier, none of my non-MS gliders had a panel or gauges in the new Win7 program I was running. I have some really great models from Wolfgang Piper and Christian Drawz and their panels worked well in XP but on my fancy new w7 machine I got nothing. I think I solved the mystery.

Ian , thanks for your encouragement, I especially hope this works for you.

    1. Make sure you have the gauges yawstring.gau
mr-fs9-caiset.gau listed in your FSX gauges folder.
    2. Make sure you have Pete Dowson's FSUICP installed.
    3. Make sure you have FSSound.dll and SOARec.dll and GPS-NAV.dat installed in FSX Modules.

    4. In your FSXcfg add [OLDMODULES]
    SOARrec.dll=1
    FSSound.dll=1

You may have to find a compatible panel with gauges that FSX recognizes so look at Wolfgang's site for FSX models. Some panels will only show up in 2d but the yawstring is there waving in the wind.

When I start FSX I get a window asking me if I want to load FSSound.dll and SOARec.dll I say yes and everything loads and works right.

I hope this works for everyone who loves soaring. I am still looking for ways to launch when I can't call the towplane. I use slew but the plane spins until I hit number5 then I can elevate with F keys, hit y and fly. That works for now. Good luck, I hope this works for you.

    happy flights,
    Cal

Thanks ramjet, but I cant find the mr-fs9-caiset.gau anywhere. None of the gliders I downloaded contain it.

    I have the mr_yawstring.gau.

All the other files are installed, though there seems some doubt as to whetehr they go in the root fsx folder or the modules folder.

Default Try here for glider gauges

    Ian,

FS Segelflugzeuge will get you to Wolfgang Piper's site and there you will find a glider lovers paradise. Pick up a couple of gliders in FSX or look around and you'll find the gauges you are missing and they get copied into Gauges in FSX.

Refer to my earlier posting. The OLDMODULES entry goes to your fsxcfg, the SOARec.dll and FSSound.dll go to your Modules in FSX.

I hope this will get you airborne, good luck.

    Cal
