    Default Is there a way to "lock" runways?

    The reason I ask is because at LAX, when the when the wind is calm, atc tells me to take off at 7L/6R. At LAX 95% percent of the time, planes take off and land towards the west. Is there a way to control this using ADE, etc?

    If there's no wind, does it matter what the takeoff/landing direction is?
    Try setting a light wind from the west and ATC should tell you to fly into it, otherwise they should be sacked.

    PS- And hey, you can orient your kite to sit on either end of the runway ready for takeoff pointing whichever way you like via the map screen.

    In the no or calm wind condition, FSX chooses runway useage based on a score. Several factors are used in scoring but one factor includes primary vs. reciprocal. For example, it sees the primary ends (6s and 7s) and scores them higher than the reciprocal ends (24s and 25s). In this case, both primary and reciprocal contain ils' so this score is equal.

    You could try and reverse the primary and secondary ends (you will also need to reverse runway specifications and start location headings etc) giving a higher score to the 24s and 25s. However, as both ends contain an ILS, I have a feeling that during no or calm wind conditions FSX will continue to select runways clockwise starting at the lower number.

    If I recall correctly, the outer runways are used for landing and the two inner for take-off only (R/W configuration). You could try reversing the runways, and closing the two outer runways for takeoff (both ends - same as real world) and completely closing (no take-off or landing) the inner runway new reciprocal ends - 6s and 7s. This would make Rwy 24R/6L landing only, 24L take-off only, 25R take-off only, 25L/7R landing only and 7L and 6R closed. This configuration may work although I suspect that fully closing one end of a runway may create other unwanted limitations with ATC and approach selection. Again, worth the few minutes it would take to reverse runways and experiment.
