Default Suprised at FSD Beech V35 Great Plane, but one feature...

I don't know if anyone else has noticed this with their new Beech V35, but have you noticed how suprising the pilot is so "cartoony"? I'm not finding fautls, I'm looking to mod it some how like I did my DA42 Twin Star, putting myself in there photographically, but wondering why FSD would do such a good job on the plane, and then do that for the pilot's features? Any thoughts theories?

    Otherwise it's a great Aircraft....

It's like that with several products that are good. The developers usually expect the simmer to look at the airframe rather than who's inside. It would've been a nice touch to have a realistic and good looking one though.

    In a word... Polys
For a reasonable pilot, figure a rounded (and multi-section) structure with possibly several separate animated segments.
We were offered a very nice one for a project a while ago and thought it would be great... until we thought about the polys...

    Rob,

Thanks for the info on that. I understand about the poly count, but I read about material names could be used for different parts and basically tricking the FSX design format.

The reason I ask about this is, I was trying to edit the pilot to be me, like I have with some of my other planes. I got my face to show up on the front, but front only, and not being able to wrap around the side or top, but I'll have to try to figure that out afterwards.

I'm basically going through all my favorite aircraft to turn them into my personal ones for FSX.

Is there way we can work around that issue? Right now, I just have it my face is only in front, that's it...

    Appreciate any input - thanks!

It would - that's why I'm trying to change it to me, like I did the DA42 Twin Star from Iris....

john i absolutely agree that pilot figures are not given sufficient attention by developers of many otherwise nice payware aircraft. and for me its such a huge issue that even if its a plane i really like, a substandard pilot figure will absolutely ruin it for me. i spend so very much of my time in spot view.

i think that part of it may very well be that modeling a human is far more difficult and time consuming than modeling an aircraft.

    Phil,

You may have a point there - I know my modeler has actually recruited help in modeling the pilot figures for our Starship. He doesn't do people. There are those who are specialized at just modeling figures, and can do it quite well. I even said don't hold back on my physique either, I want the real me behind that yoke.....

We're even doing the real Starship Owner behind his N-Number, N514RS, and I'll be behind the rest....

I think 95% of the time we're in spot view more than anything.....it's important to have something good to look at in the front seat instead of a cartoon.

I'd think it would be awful cold spending 95% of my time at FL310 outside looking in, let alone the anoxia issue. I always was told a pilot's place was in the cockpit....
Mind you, that's why Kazinori Ito never worried about a VC.. he only wanted to watch his planes fly (but look at the flak he got with that approach)
