Thread: IS it possible to give a Turboprop Cowl flaps?

Question IS it possible to give a Turboprop Cowl flaps?

    Hi Fellas

Is there any way I can make a turbo prop have cowl flaps? I've added the stock animation, but apparently it isn't working. I'm trying to use the mooney's cowl flaps indicator, since it is closer to the one it should be... is the error on the gauge (for a single engine) or on the plane, being a turboprop not to have cowl flaps?

    Thanks

    Take Care

    Default Turbo Cowl Flaps

I've tried quite a few "Recip" and "Prop" variables with Turbine and Jet Gauges and panels with no luck. It seems that "aircraft.cfg" only allows a variable to work that coincides with the engine TYPE described. I made a couple of DCBxxxx.xml Switch Gauges to do what I want on my panel, but, I don't know if a "Local" {such as ( L: DCBCowlFlapsPosition, number) } variable can be passed to a model. Does anybody know? Please Post. The SDK isn't much help. I got what I wanted to do with a lot of trial and error. If a "Local" variable can be passed to xxxx.mdl and works like a stock variable, then a custom gauge can be created to control/read it. Just remember that the "L:" variable MUST have a unique name. I use my initials at the beginning of the name to avoid having stock gauges etc. from misinterpreting it. If you plan on sharing the Bird, you'll also have to share the "Gauge". Good Luck

Do you still want to add animated Cowl Flaps to your turboprop? Maybe I can help you design the control gauge in xml. I got feedback on avsim that says you can use L:vars in an xml gauge that a .mdl can use...BTW I know absolutely nothing about FS9/FSX model design or the language necessary for the .mdl to read variables. I'm assuming they are used just like A:vars...Don
