I personally don't trust (completely) installers or Un-installers.
Properly done, they shouldn't remove shared effects or gauges but safest to proceed on the assumption that some will...
A. I don't do auto-intall to my FSX folder - except for a few essential commercial addons; little Johnny's first addon aircraft offering? Not a chance.
B. Install to a temporary folder so I can see what's there and also add updates and edits.
C. Place ALL accompanying gauges in the aircraft panel folder - never overwrite other gauges in the gauges folder.
D. Manually place in addon aircraft folder - NOT simobjects folder - add reference line to fsx.cfg (SimObjectPaths.7=G:\AddonAircraft)
E. Place effects where they have to go - NO overwriting - rename if necessary and edit references in aircraft.cfg or panel.cfg.
F. To uninstall, remove aircraft folder (with gauges) and ignore remaining effects still in effects folder.
G. Any addon that will not permit me to install my way goes in the bit bucket - I don't need it.
