Sorry if this has been answered but I can't seem to find an answer for my situation either via searches here or just general Google searches. So I've had FSX for a couple computers now but never had the hardware to run it until recently so I never used it much. So I finally get it installed on Win7 64 bit on the new machine. Basically I did a from scratch install, SP1, SP2, in order to get any files installed that Windows might need on a fresh install like DX files or something. Then I deleted the installed folder, d:\FSX for example in this case, not on the C:. Then I take my old FSX folder which has things like a lot of FSGenesis scenery installed already and rename it from say D:\fsx_old to d:\FSX. I also copied back things like my config file which has the panning speed fixes and such. Now my settings I'd already had DX10 preview ticked and it works fine other than random crashes when accessing menus. However I quickly found out the DX10 mode apparently breaks progressive taxi so I thought ok I'll go back to DX9 mode.

Well, that's where the problem is. The aircraft preview screen at startup is black, and when I choose to fly, I get a completely black screen but I can see things like the ATC window and the top menu bar. Is this some Win7 issue or have I borked up my install of FSX by installing it the way I did?.
