Thread: My first Atlantic crossing

    Default My first Atlantic crossing

Hi guys, right now im in the middle of my first Atlantic crossing on VATSIM, unfortunately there is no oceanic centres online however I had Boston and Moncton Centre on departure.

Boston Centre gave me clearence as usual, my first time departing a large airport on VATSIM aswell (With ATC)

Moncton Centre gave me Oceanic Clearence, if you wanna read up on the procedures on this, look here: http://www.vatsim-uk.org/oceanic/index.php?page=pilot

Righto, less of that and now a few pics!

Route: KBOS - LBSTA DCT Nat Track Whiskey (VIXUN LOGSU 4950N 5140N 5230N 5320N MALOT GISTI) DCT OCK1D - EGLL

Ok so first we have the speed and altitude being displayed to us,

Now we can see our route, we exit the NAT track after the GISTI waypoint and directly into the arrival procedure, which begins with the HON VOR

If we scroll through the points we can move the map to see what the rest of the plan looks like, here's the arrival...

I have my time set to my local time, GMT +10, so it's easy to tell what the Zulu time is (I like flying with Daylight, so I use this to my advantage)

Estimated times for the next few points and our arrival,

And a nice wingview for those that like simple, less cluttered shots

Anyway, still en-route to Heathrow, you can check my progress on VATSPY, callsign is UPS486.

    Hope you liked the story

Great shots Arrow. Hope it goes well!
The pilot is bound only by his mind and his machine. We must expand the mind before we expand the machine, and by expanding the mind, we may expand the machine. Our mind is being expanded by the sim. It is not a game.

Thanks for the comments guys, the arrival went well but it was a tad windy, which resulted in a rather heavy landing :P
