Thread: Scenery Problem

  1. Default Scenery Problem

    Hi,
can someone please tell me where I can find all the original AFCAD files for FSX because I seem to have two layers on top of each other at Heathrow and Gatwick.

PS. could you tell me what folders to put them in as I probably will not know. Thanks

You should probably just repair your FSX installation as that will(should) fix any problems.

    Default Airport files

    Matt

The airports are in the APXnnnnnnn.bgl files within the various scenery regional folders. There are no AFCAD files unless you (or some installer) put them in the Addon scenery folder or some other scenery folder. That's the only way you could have two 'layers' of the same airport. If you somehow had two copies of the original scenery file, I doubt you would see anything unusual. Running a repair will not remove addon scenery.

All the airport editor programs will generally tell you which scenery file an airport is found in and will probably indicate other versions if any exist already on your system. There are also utilities that only search out duplicate airport files. Either way you should be able to tell if you have duplicate airport facilities.

You could also temporarily disable the Add On scenery folder and see if that makes the extra layers disappear; if they did, that would tell you pretty much where to look for the duplicates.

You should not need to find, or touch, the default airport files. The issue sounds like you have another bgl file containing the airports somewhere else.

You could try using FSX Aiport Scanner to see if it can detect any duplicates.
