Thread: texture file ?

  1. #1

    Question texture file ?

I've been looking into repainting some aircraft on my own. I've been watching some youtube videos and I downloaded and installed DXTBmp and GIMP2. I think I have a good idea of how to do it...

My question is, in the videos on youtube they said you need to alter the .1_T file. I noticed for example the King Air 350 in the 'texture' folder has this file.

I downloaded the paintkit for the ISDT King Air 200 and it has all the files the default King Air 350 has EXCEPT this .1_t.dds file that the videos say is the one you edit.

Can I make the .1_t.dds file from one of the files in the base package? This paint kit that I downloaded from ISDT has all the files and the King Air 200 is completely white in color like the King Air 350.1_t.dds file, it just doesn't have this exact file.

    Thanks.

This is the reply I received from ISDT:

    "It will not work,

In B200 the only textures are used is _L for night illumination and all the standard files.

Any other extensions will not work."

Can someone give me some pointers here on what this means? Any tips on how to repaint the 'repaint kit'?

    Thanks.

The IDTS B200 uses different texture names than the King Air 350. Regardless of the texture name, the principles and methods of repaint remain the same.

The King Air has the fuselage complete on one texture file nose to tail, easy repaint. The B200 has the fuselage on two textures, left and right, and each side is in two parts on each texture. repaints not so easy, but can be done with care.

Use DXTBmp to view the file. If you can see the fuselage or wing or whatever part, you can repaint it. The night textures are different and as far as I know need not be touched. They merely get overlayed to darken the daytime textures.
