Thread: FS2002 and dual processors?

    Default FS2002 and dual processors?

I am going to build a system later this year and was wondering if anyone has any experience running FS2002 on a dual processor system. I thought since FS2002 appears to be CPU intensive dual processors might give it a boost. Any experiences or thoughts would be appreciated.

Dual Processors do not give you twice the CPU speed. WHat it allows you to do is actually run more tasks at once. So I dpoubt you will see much improvemnet difference unless your on eof those people whop liek to do amny thigns at the same time.

Running FS2002 on a dual processor machine might be beneficial since FS2002 is multi-threaded ("Task Manager" showed 15 threads when I checked it out). It depends on what the threads are doing: if only only thread is handling time-critical work, then dual processors won't make much difference. If there is more than one thread that is doing time-critical work (e.g one calculates AI aircraft behaviour while another calculates "your" aircraft behaviour), it may well make a difference.

Only MS could say (or you could try it).
