Default Old question same problem-throttle sync

    Hi all

I have had this problem for a long time--years.

Some multi engine planes give me a problem with advancing the throttles only results in one throttle lever advancing and the 2nd, 3rd, or 4th remains in the idle position.

I watch the tacs on start up and the engines do start up. The problem appears when advancing the throttles. Some times if I start FS over it will work properly.

I have started the engines both with the ctl/e and also with the start engine switches on the panel.

I never know how it will work. I fly the Connie a lot and notice it there more that others.

I also will happen using the 340 Saab.

Is this problem a system problem, a model problem, a calibration problem?

Anyone have some ideas to try out?

    Don R

How do you control the throttles? Keyboard, joystick, mouse controlled gauges?
How have you setup the throttlecontrols? You can assign both a general throttle as well as engine specific throttles.
Is it always engine 1 to be the only one to react?
If you press E and then a number you can select the corresponding engine. Pressing E and several numbers will select all those engines. Can you switch to other engines in that way?

    Like Jeroen says . press "E -1- 2" for a twin engine plane . . "E - 1 - 2- 3- 4" for a four etc. It's awfully tough trying to take off on a single engine

E-1-2 etc has always been a bit flakey in FS9.

If you have FSUIPC registered version you can set up a hot key to resume all enging control and that works.

I use a CH throttle quad, so I dont need to de-select engines with the keyboard.

    Hi,

This actually is caused by the panel gauges sending too many messages to FS. If one of these messages happens after the E key is pressed (but before you can get to 1, 2, 3, and 4) then the sequence is aborted and you only get what you get when you press the E key - engine 1 only.

The solution is via FSUIPC as above, using an engine select gauge on your panel (Doug Dawson makes one, and I think there are others), or find another panel.

    Hope this helps,
    Tom Gibson

    Default Throttle control problem

    Thanks for the reply guys.

Tom your response sure made sense to me. BTW this is FS2004.

Also it sure makes it tough taking off. I usually bump the throttles after start up to see if all of the throttles move in unison.

I do not have a copy of the registered version of FSUIPC.

I will give all the tips some more attention and then look at getting a registered copy.
I do have the most current one.

I do fly the F-18 from a carrier and the starting sequence does not always go through starting both engines. So then I have to use the shft/ctrl/F1 to shut down and start over.

If you don't have a current version of FSUIPC3 at all, download it from:

    http://www.schiratti.com/dowson.html

and the .exe will install it into your FS9 modules folder with documentation.

As stated below the registered version has throttle mapping utilities assignable to each model. It also has the facility to assist with the problem Tom Gibson described where a high density of windows internal messages can interfere with detecting sequential key strokes.

It also offers a key-macro capability where you could assign a keystroke sequence to a single key/function. I used this to get pushback steering, normally P-plus a number in close sequence to CRTL-Left arrow, CTRL-Down arrow, and CTRL-Right arrow rather than sequential strokes. You could do the same with engine starts.

It also has functions you could assign to keys or control buttons that are not assignable in the FS setup menus.

Finally it offers weather smoothing of winds and control of cloud layers and other weather properties.

Browse the user manual and check it out. There is a good description in it.
