Thread: What is the best C152 free add-on for FSX?

  1. Default What is the best C152 free add-on for FSX?

Hey guys, this is my first post and I would like to introduce myself a little bit. I am a beginner real life pilot but I've been doing sims ever since I could remember.

Anyways, I would like to know - What is the best free C152 add on for FSX? I will be doing my flight training in a 152, so I would like a good add on to get acquanted with the cockpit and to learn flight characteristics.

    Thanks,

    Caleb

Try Carenado/Just Flight's Cessna 152. Its quite good. BTW, just out of curiosity, were you given an option to choose between trainers? That's a nice initiative you're taking there. Your instructor will be quite impressed when you explain things to him before he does to you...

    Good luck, mate.

I have the option to choose between

    C152 - $90/hour
    C172 - $108/hour
    Piper Cherokee - $105/hour

I chose the C152 becausee it is the cheapest and it is the most fun to fly

True, most pilot's chose the 152 mainly for that reason. Now-a-days, those who can afford the costs are also starting to train in Diamond aircraft like the DA20 and DA40 series...

The Carenado and JustFlight C152's are both payware, however if you subscribe to the FSInsider newsletter you can get the JF version free

This guy uses the C152 from Carenado BTW and is a real pilot as well and offers free training online. For simming of course.

    You just might be interrested.

That's lesson 6 of the 14 he has done. There will be 45 lessons I think. Released every other day or something like that.

You will see a TON of the Carenado C152 in his series and it's use in basic lessons. You will also see the quality of the Carenado cockpit and exterior.

I would love to hear some of your feedback on your real lessons versus things he is saying in his. Would be quite interresting.

You can't go wrong with any of them. I did my training in the Cherokee and it is by far my faorite. Another option if your flight school offers it is the Diamond Eclipse, which is a modern 2 seater with great fuel efficiency.

    I trained mostly in 172 and 152's (and 150's)....

But the best plane when you're licensed and ready will be that Piper PA28... Non fliers like a low wing plane... Besides, the PA28 will make even your less than perfect landings seem good. Cessnas like to make you pay for little errors, Pipers are more forgiving.

Anyhow, freeware, the JustFlight 152 is outstanding. Link from AOPA.com if you're a member to get it free.
